Jessica Dube, a Canadian figure skater, suffered a serious injury during a pairs free skate event at the 2007 Four Continents Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dube and her partner, Bryce Davison, were attempting a side-by-side camel spin when Davison lost his balance and accidentally struck Dube in the face with his skate blade, causing a deep laceration to her left cheek and nose.
Dube was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she received several stitches to close the wound. The injury required several weeks of recovery time, and Dube and Davison were forced to withdraw from the event. Despite the seriousness of the injury, Dube was able to return to competition a few months later and continued her career as a successful pairs figure skater.
The incident raised concerns about the safety of pairs skating and the risks involved in performing complex stunts on the ice. It also highlighted the importance of proper training and communication between partners to prevent accidents and injuries during performances.
